Marriage at the First Congregational Church of Branford
At the First Congregational Church of Branford, we believe that marriage is a sacred opportunity for people to practice Christian discipleship by making a public commitment to a lifetime of love and faithfulness, and to do so within the context of a worshipping community. Each minister may have her or his individual requirements and has the latitude to accept or not, a couples’ application for marriage.
At Branford First Congregational Church, our minister presides at all weddings. We try to accommodate requests for a family member or a close friend who is a minister to participate in the wedding service.
The First Congregational minister leads couples through marriage preparation sessions, where they have an opportunity to consider the meaning of marriage, examine personal expectations, ask questions, and share in wedding service planning.
